SSL Certificate Expired Issue

Executive Summary

On 9th July 2022, between 00:00 UTC and 04:07 UTC, we identified that the script for renewing the SSL certificate on one of our primary domains did not work. Because of this, we were not able to serve new HTTPS requests on the API side and any new OCPP connections on requests using the secure protocol https.

The certificates were renewed manually and servicing all HTTPS requests resumed normally

Mitigation Actions

To prevent these types of issues from again happening in the future, we have taken or are taking the following
actions:

• Improved our monitoring and alerting logic to respond to API request failures faster
• Improve the monitoring of our 3rd party services usage (in this case the certificate provider)
